UPDATED: Manhunt underway in Gardendale, residents of Gardenview Estates and surrounding area asked to stay inside

UPDATE: Gardendale Police took Acree into custody at approximately 2 a.m. near the entrance to Castle Pines.

UPDATE: Gardendale Police are currently on the scene at the former Castle Pines Country Club. Residents are urged to stay indoors and use caution.
UPDATE: According to Gardendale Police Chief Mike Walker, the suspect was wanted on felony warrants related to a stolen vehicle in Chilton County. Police believe he is still in the area and ask that residents stay inside and not approach the suspect. The tracking dogs are currently searching the woods between Catherine Court and Thompson Drive.
The Gardendale Police Department is asked residents in the area of Gardenview Estates to stay inside, keep their doors locked and notify police of any suspicious activity as they search the area for an armed suspect.
Police are searching, along with a tracking canine, in the area of Mozzelle Circle, Benson Circle, Vista Circle, Rogers Drive and Cliff Road, according to police.
Gardendale Police say the suspect is Robert Acree, 30, and is wanted for felony theft of motor vehicle. Suspect was wearing a pink button-up shirt and black pants and was armed when police encountered him in the area. If you see this individual, do not approach. Call 631-8787 or 9-1-1.
