Men accused of sex crimes to be arraigned today

Two local men accused of sex crimes involving minors are set for arraignment today, with a third pleading not guilty and waiving his right to the hearing.

Due in Circuit Judge Martha Williams’ court today are Presley Jack Johnson, 56, of Holly Pond and Lyles Samuel Little, 18, of Hanceville.

Johnson is charged with electronic solicitation of a child and sex abuse of a child under age 12.

Little faces five charges in all: two counts of production of obscene matter with minors, two counts of possession of pornography depicting minors and second-degree sodomy.

James Hardee Richards, 30, of Hayden, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse and distributing porn to a minor, a misdemeanor. On Thursday, Richards pleaded not guilty and waived his arraignment.

A Cullman County grand jury indicted Richards in January. He was arrested on the indictment June 9 and released from jail June 13 on a $21,000 property bond, according to court records.

Richards is set to go to court for further pleading Oct. 13 and a jury trial Dec. 11. He is represented by Michael Burleson.

Johnson was arrested April 30, released from jail June 20 on a $60,000 surety bond, and then indicted on July 20, according to court records. He is being represented by Michael Fuller.

Little was arrest March 15, released from jail March 23 on a $25,000 surety bond and then indicted July 20. His attorneys are Brett Knight and Michael Hanley.
