Heatherly, who was drafted No. 77 overall in the third round of the MLB Draft by Cincinnati back in June, has appeared in six games for the AZL Reds, corralling a 2.08 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP in 17 1/3 innings — he’s limited opposing hitters to a .206 batting average and racked up 16 strikeouts during that span — while allowing just 14 hits, seven walks and four earned runs.
“It was just a very surreal and awesome feeling,” said Heatherly of his performance. “God has blessed me so much in my life. I can’t thank Him and my family enough. Like I’ve said before, this is only the beginning. I’m very optimistic for many more to come.”
