Tyler Nunnelley’s decision to commit to Eastern Kentucky last week couldn’t have been made with more confidence.

The Cullman senior offensive lineman picked the Colonels, a Division I FCS program, over the likes of Samford, UT Martin and Mercer with a calm and collective ease.

Nunnelley made the exciting announcement via his Twitter and doesn’t plan on changing his mind any time soon.

“Eastern Kentucky is where I want to be,” he said. “It’s where I want to go. It’s taken a little stress off me, but I really made the decision based on how I felt. I’m very confident about it.”

The 6-3, 290-pounder — who’s likely to play guard or center at the next level — had been recruited heavily by head

coach Mark Elder and offensive line coach Terry Heffernan prior to offering his commitment to the Colonels, who compete in the Ohio Valley Conference along with Jacksonville State.

Nunnelley graded out at 85 percent for the Bearcats last season, earning 55 knockdowns and surrendering just two sacks in 284 pass attempts from his guard position.

“I’m going to try hard to get better and better,” he said. “I’m about to go to their football camp and visit their campus again. All the coaches have been very awesome. They’re renovating the football field and building new dining halls as well. The whole place is expanding. They’re doing big things up there. I fell in love with it.”
