Berlin Sunshine Club News

The ladies of the Berlin Sunshine Club met for their monthly meeting Thursday, June 15, at the Berlin Community Center. President Patty Martin called the meeting to order and after announcements and prayer requests, Ann Bishop provided the devotion and remembrance of father’s day.
The meal was prepared and served by Kathy Serpa, Peggy Hardman, Karen Dunn and Doris Walker.
Joan Walker, club treasurer, gave the financial report. Gail Wood, secretary, read the minutes from last month’s meeting.
There were new raffle tickets distributed for the porch swing to be given away at the fall fundraiser in November and members were encouraged to promote the sale of tickets for the handcrafted quilt to be given away in November.
Other business discussed included approval for a yard sale and bake sale to be held Sept. 29 at the Berlin Community Center. Members and anyone interested are encouraged to bring and solicit donations of good quality household items during the coming months for this event. Especially needed are nice children’s clothing, toys, baby items, children’s books, glassware, furniture, kitchen gadgets, household, tools and crafts. Prior to the sale, any larger donations can be dropped off with Patty Martin from Monday-Friday at Martin Door on Highway 278 east, 5 miles from Cullman (across from the Berlin Community Center). A receipt can be provided for all donations. Bake sale items may be dropped off at the Berlin Community Center on the morning of the event only.
A date of Feb. 3, 2018, was set for the next supper fundraiser. Food and activities are to be discussed at future meetings.
Other members present were Jo Schaffer, Marilyn Bolte, Tootie Sanford, Joyce Rodgers, Jill Hollis, Susie Smith. One guest, Francis Snider, also was present.
After a quick game of Bingo, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at the Berlin Community Center.
