Cullman and Hanceville McDonald’s will each give away 200 backpacks filled with school supplies this summer as a part of McDonald’s of Central Alabama third annual McBackpack Giveaway. 

From July 27-29 and August 4-5, 17 participating McDonald’s restaurants in Central Alabama will giveaway 3,400 backpacks containing pencils, crayons, paper, a ruler, a folder and much more.

Participating McDonald’s of Central Alabama restaurants will give out 200 on a first come, first serve basis to students accompanied by a guardian or parent.

The Cullman McDonald’s, located at 1425 Second Ave. SW and Hanceville McDonald’s, located at 740 Main Street, are participating locally. 

McDonald’s has partnered with radio stations in the areas of the 17 participating McDonald’s restaurants to announce the schedule for each restaurant’s giveaways. McDonald’s owner/operators will be on hand at their particular locations to hand out backpacks and meet the students in their local communities.

“The first two years of this program were quite successful distributing 1,200 and then 2,000 backpacks. This year we are thrilled to announce we will increase the number of backpacks handed out by 70% to a total of 3,400,” stated Debbie Kiker, Angels Advertising marketing director. “Our goal for this program is to encourage students to realize the importance of receiving an education and bring excitement into starting off the school year strong.”

The backpacks will contain school supplies items such as pencils, crayons, paper, a ruler, a folder, and more. There will be one grand prize backpack at each individual location with extra supplies and McDonald’s items that will be given out at random.
