WEDDING: Doering-Grier

Casey Christine Grier and Markus Doering were united in marriage on November 12, 2016, in a double ring ceremony on the Gulf Green at Alys Beach, Florida. The Reverend Byron Vance of Pell City officiated the afternoon ceremony overlooking the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

The bride is the daughter of Jim and Patty Grier of Cullman and the granddaughter of the late Morris and Pearl Grier and the late Reuben and Betty Preston.

The groom is the son of Diethard and Sigrid Doering of Goettingen, Germany. He is the grandson of Helmut and Thea Schlote of Goettingen, Germany and the late Alois and Agnes Doering, also of Goettingen, Germany.

Given in marriage by her mother and father, the bride wore a formal gown of gold lace and tulle designed by Stella York. The fit and flare gown of gold embroidered lace had hand sewn beading decorating a “V” neckline. The waistline of the gown featured a sewn in gold bead French ribbon belt. The flared skirt of gold tulle had beaded appliqués and was edged with beaded wide lace. The back of the gown had a plunging “V” outlined with beading, and accented with crystal buttons. The attached semi cathedral length train had beaded appliqués. In her hair, the bride wore a sideband of rhinestones and pearls in a floral leaf pattern. She carried a bouquet of peach cabbage roses, orange ranunculus, dusty miller, orange and white callas, small birds of paradise, and hen and chick succulents with stems wrapped in aqua ribbon.

Sister of the bride, Ashley White of Huntsville, was the matron of honor. She wore an aqua full length one shoulder soft tulle dress with an asymmetrical draped bodice, shirred waistband and skirt and carried a similar bouquet as the bride. Flower girls were Olivia and Julia White, nieces of the bride.

Anna Anderson of Cullman, friend of the bride, served as liturgist.

Corrie Moncrief, of Madison, Mississippi, and Mandi Stewart, of Raleigh, North Carolina, both longtime friends of the bride, were program attendants.

Wedding music was provided by Emily Nolan, soloist and guitarist; Carrie Miller, cellist; and Yasya Brown, violinist.

Jens Rein, friend of the groom, of Hamburg, Germany, served as the best man. Ushers were Joshua White of Huntsville, Alabama, brother-in-law of the bride; Ari Preston of Jacksonville, Florida, cousin of the bride; and Thad Copeland of New York City, friend of the bride.

Following the gulf side ceremony, the reception was held at The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach, Florida. Fisher Flowers provided flowers and design for both the ceremony and reception, and the cake was created by Bake My Day Bakery of Destin, Florida. Christina Gillon Abbott served as the wedding planner. Photography was provided by Hayley Green of Goode Green Photography. The couple and the guests danced the night away to Bueller, an entertaining 80s band from Nashville.

Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple resides in Cullman.
