Troopers: Hanceville man charged in fatal Mother’s Day hit-and-run

A Hanceville man has been charged with the fatal hit-and-run wreck that killed a 75-year-old Good Hope woman on Mother’s Day.

Alabama State Troopers charged Larry Surrett, 58, with felony leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with evidence and driving while revoked. Helen Duke was found down near her mailbox on Schwaiger Road by family who visited her for lunch.
