(Update) Power restored to 1,200+ after storms

Power has been restored to the more than 1,200 Cullman Electric Cooperative customers affected when strong storms moved through earlier this afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a special weather statement shortly after 1:30 pm when radar tracked strong thunderstorms moving along a line extending from near Smith Lake to near Hanceville, heading northeast at 20 mph.

Locations impacted included: Cullman, Hanceville, Good Hope, Holly Pond, Dodge City, Baldwin, Garden City, Colony, Phelan and Wilburn..
