The director of Cullman Emergency Medical Services was arrested on a misdemeanor stalking charge Tuesday after a woman alleged he has been harassing her since March.

Court and arrest records show James Doyle Curtis, 42, of Cullman was charged with second-degree stalking and booked into the Cullman County Detention Center. He was released on $500 bail on the condition he has no contact with the alleged victim or her family, according to court documents signed by Cullman County Circuit Clerk Lisa McSwain.

In her affidavit, the victim alleged Curtis approached her at a Walmart in March and she told him to leave her alone. Since then, he allegedly continued to harass her on five separate occasions in March, April and May.

Curtis was promoted to director in 2016. Cullman EMS is a service of Cullman Regional.
