Second Fridays returning

Mike and Diane Tyus of the Trimble community take a spin during a set by Athens band Free Range during the Battle of The Bands night in downtown Cullman during a 2015 2nd Fridays event.

Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce is teaming up again with Cullman City Parks and Recreation to spearhead this summer’s 2nd Fridays events kicking off June 9.

From 5-10 p.m. each month through September, Cullman’s central business district will throw a block party of sorts, with discounts and specials at downtown boutiques and restaurants, live entertainment and activities for the young and young at heart.

The 2nd Friday dates are June 9, July 14, Aug.11 and Sept. 8.

Festhalle Market Platz and the Warehouse District will be ground zero for the monthly event, with the Antique and Classic Cruise-In Show returning with a full slate of head-turning cars and trucks and the Farm Y’all Farmers Market bringing local grown produce to town.

Late-night shopping and dining, food and drinks, children’s activities and games plus an all-new “Artist Alley” are on tap this year.

The Artist Alley will go up between Clark and First streets Northeast, with live entertainment on the Shirley Quattlebaum State Farm Stage and the Buffalo Wild Wings Kid Zone. Space is limited so artists and merchants interested in setting up a booth can sign up online at www.cullmanchamber.org/pages/artist-alley-application or call the chamber at 256-734-0454.

The cost to reserve a booth is $25 per month for chamber members or $75 for four months and $50 per month or $150 for 4 months for non-members.

The chamber plans to announce more details on the event soon. If you would like to learn more about participating in 2nd Fridays activities or sponsorship opportunities, contact Magan Bartlett at mbartlett@cullmanchamber.org.
