- Volunteers and those needing a hot meal gathered at St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church for lunch in this Times file photo in April 2011. Area churches have been a main source of food, clothing and household items in the wake of last week's tornadoes.
St. John’s Church Evangelical Protestant Church members are hosting a Tornado Café Thank-You Lunch until 2 p.m. today, the sixth anniversary of the devastating April 27, 2011 storms.
The event is underway at the Wal-Mart Pavilion at the south end of Heritage Park (near Olive Street). This is in appreciation and remembrance for all the service and dedication of our emergency personnel, fire departments, city and county law enforcement, 9-1-1 office, and others who helped during the 2011 tornado. Lunch is a hotdog, chips and cookie.
