LOCAL SPORTS: Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame inducts 18th class

- The 18th Class of the Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame.
The Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame’s 18th class was officially installed Saturday night during a well-attended banquet at the Civic Center.
Chairman Jackie Satterfield once again provided the laughs to a room packed with exceptional athletes and coaches — both past and present — as one of the area’s most time-honored groups ushered in this year’s selection of honorees.
The 2017 class consisted of Vicki Freeman Akers (Holly Pond), Timothy Brigham (Hanceville), Bryan Cain (Cullman), Wayne Chappell (Cullman), Danny Wayne Davis (Cold Springs), Randy Hasenbein (Vinemont), Hubert H. Heck (West Point), Mark Moore (Fairview), Roger Moore (Good Hope) and G. Barry Willoughby (Cullman). Prior to the annual ceremony, 12 current student-athletes were awarded scholarships for their tremendous work in and out of the classroom. The senior recipients were as follows:

Jada Golden, Fairview: Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship
Clay Lanier, Fairview: Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship
Matt Cofer, Good Hope: James and Gussie Shabel Memorial Scholarship
Abby Burnette, Good Hope: Jacob Harris Memorial Scholarship
Cameron Barbee, Hanceville: Coach Lane and Nancy Horton Scholarship
Michael Lambert, Holly Pond: Dane Estes Memorial Scholarship
Katelyn Cowie, St. Bernard: Coach Charlie Richard Memorial Scholarship
Seth Campbell, Vinemont: Michael Stewart Memorial Scholarship
Bailee Yearwood, West Point: Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship
