PREP ROUNDUP: Foust holds leads at Cullman County Golf Tournament

Holly Pond’s Dawson Foust carded an even-par 71 at Chesley Oaks Golf Course on Wednesday to grab a one-shot lead over Good Hope’s Cole Pearson (72) entering Thursday’s final round at Cross Creek Golf Course.

Fairview, meanwhile, holds the squad lead following a four-score total of 339. Hunter McKelvy (77), Jacob Allen (85), Hunter Yeager (87) and Josh Barnes (90) contributed solid rounds for the defending champions.

The Raiders (354) are second followed by West Point (377) and Hanceville (424).

Fairview’s Maci Yeager and Cold Springs’ Katie Tangye are tied atop the leaderboard on the girls side following rounds of 89.

The Lady Aggies hold a sizable advantage over Good Hope (281-340) entering the final day.

Prep Baseball

% Hanceville 13, Vinemont 0 (five innings): The Bulldogs earned a season sweep of the Eagles with a shutout triumph on Tuesday.

Isaac Holmes (three hits and two RBIs), Alex Campbell (three hits and one RBI), Gaiven Cruce (two hits and three RBIs), Dalton Rice (two hits and two RBIs) and Ashton James (two hits) were the top contributors for Hanceville, which improved to 12-12.

Rice and Kainon Cruce allowed a combined three hits on the mound to go along with four strikeouts.

Prep Soccer

% Albertville 1, Cullman 0: The Class 6A No. 3 Bearcats fell to 10-5-1 following a loss to the Aggies in penalty kicks on Tuesday.

The Black and Gold finished the regular season second in their section and will hit the road for the first round of the playoffs.

% Albertville 1, Cullman 0 (Girls): The Lady Bearcats couldn’t pull out a close one against the Lady Aggies on Tuesday.

Third-ranked Cullman is now 14-3-1 this season, with two of the losses coming to Albertville.
