Berlin incorporation meeting Tuesday night

Those interested in wanting to learn more about an effort to incorporate the Berlin community can turn out Tuesday evening more an informational meeting.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Berlin Community Center on U.S. 278. Patrick Bates is leading the effort to become a municipality, arguing Berlin is among the oldest, most densely populated communities in Cullman County that remains unincorporated.

Resident must collect the required number of signatures of residents for a petition to hold an election. Those signatures are only good 18 months.

Cullman County currently has 11 municipalities: the cities of Cullman, Hanceville and Good Hope and the towns of South Vinemont, West Point, Holly Pond, Fairview, Baileyton, Dodge City, Garden City and Colony.
