Many residents may find themselves fantasizing over escaping from Cullman, but soon, you’ll be able to do it — or kinda.
On Monday, the Cullman Planning Commission approved a conditional use for a new business, Escape Cullman, that’s moving into 103 Third St. S.W., suites D and E. It will feature two rooms for players to work together to find clues to free themselves before time runs out.
And for the cautious, no, you will never actually be locked inside and trapped.
Escape room challenges, first popularized in Japan, are a new entertainment trend sweeping the U.S., with themes ranging from escapes from prison to getting out of a haunted house. Corporations often use escape rooms for team-building and communication exercises.
In other business, the commission:
Held public hearing on proposed short-form residential subdivision at Warnke Road Northwest and approved the project which will include single-family homes.
Reviewed and approved site plan for proposed Serra Nissan Used Car facility on Broadway Drive Southwest, contingent on the business address stormwater drainage. The dealership will be located behind the current new vehicle dealership on Cherokee Avenue Southwest.
Approved co-location of Verizon Wireless equipment on existing cell phone tower at 1406 Walnut Street N.W.
