Ron and Kim Cates of Bremen are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Michele Cates, to Joshua Cole Freeman, son of Van and Melissa Freeman of Bremen.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Cecil and Viva Lee Cates of Bremen, and Linda Cowart of Rockwood, Tenn., and the late James Cowart of Athens.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Sue Jackson and the late Milford Freeman of Bremen, and Carolyn Handley of Arab and the late Jerry Handley of Bremen.

Miss Cates is a 2010 graduate of Cold Springs High School and a 2014 graduate of Athens State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English licensure and certification. She is presently employed at West Point Middle School.

Mr. Freeman is a 2012 graduate of Cold Springs High School. He is presently employed at Inline Electric Supply Company.

The wedding is planned for May 27, 2017.
