Gardendale to host cleanup day

The city of Gardendale will once again hold a cleanup day on April 1. Volunteers will gather at the city’s civic center and will pick up trash and clean the city. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

During the week following the clean up day, the city will pick up large, non-hazardous items at the request of residents. Residents can request to schedule a pickup by calling 631-3394.

In other business, the council also:

•approved entering into an agreement with the National Center for Sports Safety for the parks.

•approved an agreement to spend $1,500 on the right-of-way appraisal for a signal to be placed at Odum Road and Main Street.

•approved six new street lights for Fieldstown Crossings

•reappointed Dr. Michael Hogue to the Gardendale School Board and reappointed David Crockett to the School Advisory Committee. Those terms will end April 1, 2022.

•promoted Paige Asay to full-time at the civic center

•hired two part-time laborers at the civic center.

•hired Donna Love as a part-time laborer at the library.
