PREP SOFTBALL: Hanceville wins silver flight title at J.B. Pennington tournament

BLOUNTSVILLE — Hanceville’s softball team went undefeated on Saturday en route to claiming the silver flight title at J.B. Pennington.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated West End (4-0), Gaylesville (5-0), Shades Valley (9-3) and New Hope (4-1) in the championship contest to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Cassidy Campbell provided a great spark for Hanceville both at the plate and in the circle. She came up with seven big hits and four RBIs over the four-game stretch, while picking up the victory for her squad in the title contest after getting out of a bases-loaded situation in the top half of the decisive inning.

Trailing 1-0, the Purple and Gold plated four runs during in their next at-bats to collect the win versus the Lady Indians in the timed outing.

Destiny Short, Katie Surrett, Hannah Flanigan and Rebecca Nelson all secured five base knocks, while Logan Yates and Alexia Edwards (four hits apiece), and Laney Burgess and Jadah Hurst (three hits each) also contributed in Hanceville’s championship journey.

Those eight players all produced at least one RBI as well.
