PREP ROUNDUP: Hanceville rallies in 7th inning for 7-5 win over West Point

WEST POINT — Hanceville’s baseball team scored all seven of its runs in the seventh inning of Friday’s game against the Warriors to overcome a three-run deficit and hang on for a 7-5 victory.
Dalton Rice had three hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs (2-0), while Mark Dyer (two hits and an RBI) and Josh Loggins (two hits) tallied strong days at the plate as well.

Isaac Holmes (two RBIs), Alex Campbell (two RBIs), Kaine Yates, Branen Hurst and Tate Brown all produced one hit apiece.
West Point (0-2) was led by Kolton Easterwood (a hit and two RBIs). Other contributors included Chance Martin (two hits and an RBI); Cameron Bates (a hit and an RBI); Sam Briehn, Noah Allison and Hunter Persall (one hit each); and Matthew McDonald (RBI).
% Sparkman 4, Cullman 0: The Bearcats dropped their first game of the season to the Class 7A Senators.
Wheeler Eastman, Ben Smith, Jacob Heatherly and Levi Thomas all had one hit apiece for Cullman.
Thomas grabbed the tough loss, despite allowing just one earned run and striking out eight in 5 1/3 innings.
% Good Hope (14-17), Holly Pond (0-0): The Raiders breezed to a pair of shutouts over the Broncos on Thursday.

Malachi Holt struck out 14 batters and allowed just one hit in the first game, while Zack Isabel went five in the latter tilt to earn the win.
PREP SOFTBALL
% Fairview 7, Crossville 1: The Lady Aggies opened the season with a solid win on Friday.
Kalynn Holcombe and Katie Ball recorded three hits each, while Ally Hogeland (three RBIs), Jordan Moore (RBI) and Daisy Manasco (RBI) also contributed to the winning cause with one hit apiece.
Hogeland allowed eight hits and struck out seven in the complete game.
% West Point 10, Danville 6: The Lady Warriors amassed 15 hits in a high-scoring triumph.
Gracie Abbott (3-for-3), Courtney Blackwood (3-for-4, two RBIs), Olivia Ball (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Makayla Brown (2-for-4, a three-run homer, four RBIs) were the best of the bunch for West Point (2-0).
Lillie Burdette, Jordyn Kimbrell and Avery McClure all had singles.
Carlie Wilkins, a seventh-grader, earned her first varsity win in the circle, surrendering just four hits and one earned run in six innings.
PREP TENNIS
St. Bernard’s girls fell just shot to Arab on Thursday, dropping a 5-4 match.
Crystal Shi and Alex Lexis collected singles wins, while Shi/Ella Buckingham and Lewis/Kathleen George won in doubles play.
