Dodge City seniors are moving on up, out of the town hall basement and into a new facility.
The old Dodge City Gym will serve as the town’s new senior center, with a grand opening ceremony planned 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Local seniors have been meeting in the town hall’s basement.
But officials secured an affordable lease on the old gym, located next door to the town hall, and it’s been refurbished to host senior activities, said Dusty Baker, Cullman County Commission on Aging Director.
“It’s a part-time center where they can have potluck-style meals and play cards and other games along with the programs we (COA) provide,” he said.
The new center is located on Howard Circle, and the public is invited to attend the grand opening ceremony. Seniors meet on Tuesdays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information about the Dodge City Senior Center, contact Ann Rice at 256-287-0364.
