A rendering of a new urgent care/outpatient imaging center coming to Cullman Regional is seen here at the State of the Hospital luncheon Wednesday.

Cullman Regional will break ground on a new 11,000-square foot urgent care and outpatient imaging center in March to alleviate its packed emergency room, officials announced today.

Hospital CEO James Clements said the new facility with create 25 new jobs and help manage the ballooning patient volume at the ER. Last year, 45,000 patients received treatment at the ER; it was built to accommodate 35,000-36,000.

The project will also feature CT, ultrasound, MRI and general X-ray imaging along with a lab and pharmacy. The news comes as the hospital is in midst of a fifth-floor expansion project that will add 30 beds.
