(Girls) Mortimer Jordan 76, Dora 42

The Mortimer Jordan girls basketball team improved to 15-5 overall on Friday night in a, 76-42, win at Dora.

Anna Boger led the Blue Devils with 17 points in the non-area win. Kayla Hines and Jadyn Allen aided the offense with 16 points apiece, and Nicole Goldsmith finished with 11.

Mortimer Jordan sits at 4-0 in Class 5A, Area 11 and will return to league competition on Tuesday night at home against Corner.

Mortimer Jordan 62, Dora 46

In boys action, Mortimer Jordan went on the road for a, 62-46, win over Dora. That win improved the Blue Devils to 13-7 on the year.

First-year head man Josh Golden and his guys can secure the No. 1 seed in the Class 5A, Area 11 tournament on Tuesday night with conference win over Corner at home.

Fultondale 69, Shades Mountain Christian 28

The Fultondale boys basketball team rolled to a 69-28 win against Shades Mountain Christian on Friday night at home.

Tyme Andrews had a monster night, leading the Wildcats with 28 points and seven boards.

He also had a strong supporting cast with Dexter Lewis scoring 10 to go with GaQuincy McKinstry’s 8 points and five steals. Lucas Wells provided eight points of his own while Jayson Jones scored six with 12 assists.

(Girls) Shades Mountain Christian 28, Fultondale 26

An off night at the charity stripe cost the Fultondale girls basketball team in a, 28-26, loss to Shades Mountain Christian. The Wildcats missed 18 of its 20 free-throw opportunities in the narrow loss.

Head coach Ronnie Driver was proud of his team’s effort, as they climbed back from a 17-8 halftime deficit. They rolled to a 12-0 advantage in the third quarter to claim a three-point edge going into the final frame. However, the missed opportunities were too much to overcome.

“I’m proud of the girls effort. We will fix our free-throw shooting,” said Driver.
