Cold Springs FCCLA will help make this Christmas season memorable for a local family, who otherwise might not have a holiday celebration.

Cold Springs FCCLA has been adopting families for over 12 years. Taking the time to help others during the holiday season is an important lesson to teach students.

Over the past month, Cold Springs FCCLA students sold candles to raise money to adopt a family with three children. On Nov. 30, the students met at a local department store to buy gifts. The adviser, Stephanie Blair, partnered up students and gave them a budget for each child. They were able to buy jackets, clothes, shoes, toys, etc. Also, Heatherly Farms donated toys.

Teachers hope this “life lesson” will help students to learn that planning, raising money, budgeting, comparison shopping and giving are an important part of becoming responsible adults.
