- Matt Glover has been let go as head football coach at Pinson Valley High School.
As of Tuesday at 2 p.m., Pinson Valley head football coach Matt Glover will not retain that position moving forward.
In his eighth season with the Indians, Glover led the team to an 8-4 finish, including a 4-2 region mark. The season ended with a four-overtime loss to Austin in the second round of the state playoffs.
“I wish coach Matt Glover the absolute very best moving forward, and I thank him for his time here at Pinson Valley High School,” said Principal Mike Turner.
Turner added that Glover had been “let go as head football coach.”
From 2009 to ’16, Glover constructed a 50-41 record at Pinson Valley. He reached the playoffs in all but one of those seasons (his first season in 2009). Before that he served as head coach at Moody from 2006 to ’08.
“I’m leaving Pinson Valley in better shape than when I found it,” said Glover, who does not plan on getting out of the coaching business.
Pinson Valley is the second Birmingham-area program to part ways with its head football coach this week, as Minor let go third-year man George Bates following an 11-2 season. None have confirmed Bates as a candidate for the Indians’ opening.
More information related to the opening will be posted as details arrive.
