Tour of Homes to benefit local agencies

The Crider Home is built atop a wooded lot in a cul de sac of Terri Pines, the home of Libby Crider and her children is a blend of rock, wood and metal. the home is featured in this year’s Tour of Homes.

Six extensively decorated homes will be featured Sunday in the Share Club of Cullman’s annual A Christmas Tour of Homes.

For a $15 donation per person, the tour is 1-5 p.m. Hospice of Cullman and The Good Samaritan Clinic will receive money raised from the event, said Jackie Donovan of the Share Club.

“In the past, we’ve raised about $16,000 per tour and we hope to do that this year for these organizations that are providing needed services for our community,” Donovan said. “The theme, of course, is Christmas but touring the homes can also give you some ideas for decorating year ‘round.”

The homes scheduled for tour this year include:

The Veal Home, 166 County Road 1310, Vinemont. The home of Angie and Kelvin Veal, built in 1991, sits on the banks of Lake George with panoramic views of the lake.

The Clements Home, 106 View Point Circle, Cullman. Home to James and Wendy Clements, the house was built with southern architecture in mind covers three lots in the Terri Pines subdivision.

The Crider Home, 245 Fairway Drive, Cullman. Built atop a wooded lot in a cul de sac of Terri Pines, the home of Libby Crider and her children is a blend of rock, wood and metal. Features include heart of pine flooring, hand-hewn beams and other detailed work.

The Wilhite Home, 149 County Road 1286, Vinemont. The home of Jeff and Julie Wilhite features an eclectic style with do-it-yourself items and reclaimed objects from junk stores, including a dining table built by Jeff from salvaged wood from the property’s barn.

The Brown Home, 150 County Road 1405, Cullman. Located in the Cotton Row subdivision off Basch Road, Ken and Diane Brown renovated the home after purchasing it in 2001. Visitors will find an extensive Jim Shore collection and an abundance of other Christmas decorations on the tour.

The Turner Home, 741 County Road 1413, Cullman. Home to Rusty and Christy Turner, the classically detailed home overlooks Lake Catoma and features polished limestone, maple cabinetry and granite countertops and an impressive fireplace.
