FULTONDALE — The Fultondale City Council enacted the city’s drought ordinance as conditions reach critical level in state water supplies.

Mayor Jim Lowery announced the measure in the council meeting on Monday, saying it simply gives the city a way to ensure the citizens don’t thoughtlessly waste water during this time.

The ordinance prohibits use of water “not essential to maintain adequate health and safety standards.” The ordinance takes effect immediately.
