Missing Woman

Update: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has announced the missing person case is now a death investigation. Shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, the body of Nora Wilson Hughes was found in a creek about a quarter of a mile from where she was last seen. Foul play is not suspected in the death.

According to a news release, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a missing 82-year-old woman near Trafford.

Nora Wilson Hughes was last seen by her daughter walking around the yard at their residence in the 3300 block of Smith Mill Road near Trafford about 10 a.m. this morning.

She was last seen wearing a beige sweater and blue jeans. According to family she suffers from Alzheimer’s and may have become disoriented.

Anyone with information or who might see Hughes is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
