Blue Devils stay clean in Region 6

No. 10 Mortimer Jordan stayed unbeaten in Class 5A, Region 6 play on Friday night at Curry. The Blue Devils (6-2, 5-0) jumped out in front early and cruised to a 34-6 league win.
Senior Spencer Brown made the most of his short appearance. He ran 96 yards on just four carries in the win. Brown opened the contest with a 49-yard touchdown run in the first quarter followed by a 20-yard score minutes later. He put an end to his night in the second quarter after his third score of the evening, this one from five yards out.
The UAB pledge did not play in the second half.
Mortimer Jordan quarterback Douglas Moore finished 4-for-6 for 82 yards passing and a touchdown. He found Trey Peters on a 48-yard score with 2:54 left in the opening half.
The Blue Devils went for 288 total yards of offense (157 yards rushing) in the road win. Curry worked its way to 14 first downs and 233 yards of offense. Curry’s one score of the game came in the second frame when Logan Hunter went to Ryan Ingle from 23 yards out. The extra point was blocked .
Mortimer Jordan hosts Hayden next Friday for the Region 6 championship.
