Warrior Council plans clean up day before Warrior Day event

The Warrior City Council on Monday discussed the upcoming Clean Up Warrior Day, scheduled for Oct. 22.

Anyone interested in volunteering should meet at the senior center at 7:30 a.m. Breakfast, reflective vests and pick up sticks will be provided for volunteers.

The council also discussed the possibility of scheduling a regular clean up day every quarter going forward to keep the city clean.

In other business, the council:

•discussed hiring a cleaning service for city hall to replace an employee that is retiring. The cleaning service estimate they had would save the city approximately $2,000 a month, according to Mayor Johnny Ragland.

•approved a renewal of the tax revenue agreement with RDS.

•approved a bid for the repaving of Montgomery Alley.

•discussed the upcoming Warrior Day, which is scheduled for Oct. 28 and 29. As of the council meeting, more than 70 vendors had signed up for booths at the event.

The next Warrior Council meeting will be Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
