BESSEMER—Corner came out on top this week, wrecking Oak Grove’s homecoming night, 55-41.
Eric Millwood set the tone with his 12-yard touchdown that evened the contest at 7-7. Roughly 6 minutes later, quarterback Devne Daniel ran 10 yards to the end zone for a 14-7 tally in Corner’s favor.
Oak Grove would answer with a touchdown to tie things up and continued to keep things interesting throughout, but it just wasn’t enough.
Daniel went for five touchdowns in the non-region win. He connected with Cole McGough for a whopping 71-yard touchdown. He later scampered for an 18-yard score in the third quarter followed shortly thereafter by a Millwood 38-yard touchdown (his second score of the night) rush to give Corner a 41-20 cushion through three quarters.
The Yellow Jackets went on to capture the last touchdown of the game, sending them back home with a 55-41 win. Erik Stinnett and Luke Sims both found touchdowns for the Tigers in the final frame, but Daniel answered with a 7-yard touchdown and 42-yard touchdown. Chase Jones connected on both extra points for the Jackets.
Jarred Millwood had a total of 11 stops for Corner while Ethan Green and Andrew Gaylor both added seven stops.
