Ezekiel just had a little too much depth for Tabernacle Christian on Friday night.

The Torches built an early 24-6 lead, but couldn’t make the defensive stops on the road in a 46-38 loss. Ezekiel’s go-ahead score came with 1:46 remaining in the game, and Tabernacle Christian fumbled the ensuing kickoff to finalize things.

According to head coach Keith Dabbs, his team missed on opportunities down field in the passing game and couldn’t get the defensive stops needed down the stretch.

Although he had his struggles through the air, quarterback Micah Miller showed his ability to run when needed. He ran the ball 14 times for 91 yards and a touchdown. Running back Josh Florence continued his strong senior season with 188 yards and three scores off 25 calls.

Miller’s favorite target was Cobie Howard, who pulled down three receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown for the Torches.

Tabernacle Christian now sits at 3-1 overall with a big Christian Football Association bout with Tuscaloosa scheduled for next week at home.
