It was close early, but fourth-ranked Mortimer Jordan exploded in the second quarter for a 45-21 Class 5A, Region 6 win at Fairview on Friday night.

The Blue Devils (4-1, 3-0) went for 456 total offensive yards to Fairview’s 281. Head coach Dusty Goode, once again, kept things grounded with 318 of those yards coming via groundwork. That left 138 yards passing for Douglas Moore, who finished the game 7-of-13 with two touchdowns and one interception.

Senior running back Spencer Brown rolled up 108 yards with two touchdowns and three 2-point conversions for the Blue Devils. He went in for the first score of the night, a 7-yard dash, and later put Mortimer Jordan back on top with a 3-yard plunge midway through the second quarter.

The visitor’s final score of the first half came off a 40-yard rush from Moore. Brown’s 2-point conversion sent Mortimer Jordan to the half with a 31-14 lead.
