Colby Hutson won three events and broke a trio of school records, and Callie Hollingsworth set a new Cullman standard to lead the Bearcats in their swimming season opener Tuesday at the Aquatic Center.
Cullman’s girls grabbed second and the boys were fourth in a field rounded out by Randolph, Westminster Christian and Westminster-Oak Mountain.
Hutson rewrote the Bearcats’ record books while speeding to victories in the 100-yard individual medley (58.43), 50-yard butterfly (24.86) and 50-yard backstroke (27.27).
Hollingsworth was second in the 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard IM. Her time of 29.28 in the former was a school record.
Reese McNeel, Reagan Martin, Cabri Adams and Hollingsworth were second in the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays, as were Hutson, C.J. Arnold, Brody Schaefer and Clay McAlpin in the 200-yard freestyle relay on the boys side.
McNeel was third in the 100-yard freestyle. Adams posted the same result in the 50-yard backstroke.
Cullman will host another meet next Tuesday.
