Corner stings Fairview in region play

CORNER—Corner (3-0) went for a 36-6 win in its first Class 5A, Region 6 game of the season against Fairview ( 1-2).
The first quarter came with a slow start, but Corner’s Devne Daniel delivered with a 3-yard touchdown scamper with 4:19 left in the first. Chase Jones kicked the extra point, making the tally 7-0, Corner. With only 15 seconds left of the first quarter, Daniel did it again, this time from a yard out. Cooper Norris then ran in a 2-point conversion for the Yellow Jackets, giving them a 15-0 lead at the end of the first.
The second quarter came and went with no points, but Corner went to the ground for a total of 91 yards throughout the quarter while the Aggies churned up a total of 95 rushing yards.
Early on in the third quarter, with 10:07 on the clock, Jesse Ross ran 15 yards for Corner’s third touchdown of the night. Jones kicked the extra point, giving Corner a 22-0 lead. That’s when Daniel struck again for Corner with a 4-yard touchdown with roughly six minutes left in the frame, putting the tally at 29-0 in favor of the Jackets.
Ross started the fourth quarter with another touchdown run from a yard out for the Yellow Jackets’ last touchdown of the night.
The Aggies’ only score of the game came with 3:39 left in the final quarter. Jeremy Cloud ran in an 8-yard touchdown to set the final score at 36-6 in Corner’s favor.
Austin Boyd played a good game for the Corner Yellow Jackets, making several stops throughout the night, along with Chase Goodwin, Jarred Millwood and Hayden Walker.
Daniel had a total of 135 yards and 3 touchdowns throughout the night.
Ross had a total of 90 rushing yards, and scored 2 touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets.
