Parkside Elementary School in Cullman County was placed on lockdown Monday morning when the school reportedly received what authorities are describing as a “threatening phone call” from an out of area phone number.
According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, the school was locked down by the staff and the school resource deputy on-site. The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office has also increased its security at Parkside Elementary, as well as other schools throughout Cullman County, as a precaution.
The details of the threat made in the call were not released.
“Our children’s safety is our top priority,” Sheriff Matt Gentry said in a statement. “Our investigators are currently working to track down leads on the possible caller.”
