The Gardendale City Council on Tuesday discussed upcoming events with the Chamber of Commerce. New chamber director Anna Stokely told the council that the chamber is preparing for a chamber luncheon on July 14 and for the third year of Leadership North Jefferson.

Anyone interested in participating in either should contact Stokely at the chamber inside city hall.

The council also heard from Police Chief Mike Walker that the department has scheduled a citizen firearm class for July 23.

In other business, the council:

•had a first reading on an ordinance to accept English Village Streets

•approved a resolution to authorize an agreement with the Jefferson County Board of Education for the use of Gardendale Elementary School’s gym.

•approved a resolution authorizing an agreement with The University of Alabama Health Services Foundation.
