PREP SPORTS: Addison lone area school without fine, ejection for 2015-16; locals cough up combined $4,800

Addison was the only high school from The Times’ coverage area to go fine- and ejection-free for the 2015-16 school year, according to annual data recently released by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
Ten local schools combined to dish out $4,800 for 21 total infractions. The former figure is almost double the amount from 2014-15.
All of the penalties stemmed from ejections (12), head coaches not attending rules clinics (seven) or the championship participation rule (two).
Both championship participation violations resulted from schools declaring for sports and then not having enough student-athletes to actually field the teams.
Holly Pond’s $1,200 bill was the highest for a local school and consisted solely of coaches not attending rules clinics.
Addison and the state’s other squeaky-clean schools will be recognized at the AHSAA Summer Conference Sportsmanship Luncheon on July 22 in Montgomery.
