Abigail Marie Burks and Preston Warren Jacobs

Alana and Johnny Burks of Arab are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Abigail Marie Burks, to Preston Warren Jacobs, son of Denine and David Jacobs of Union Grove. 

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Alan Trimble, Ms. Lois Marie Burks Harmon, and the late Rayford Henry Burks.

The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. And Mrs. Russell Warren Toop and the late Mr. And Mrs. Charles William Jacobs. 

Miss Burks is a 2013 graduate of Arab High School and will graduate in 2017 with a BSN in nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. While at UAH, she was a member of the UAH Charger tennis team, received Silver and Bronze student-athlete awards, a member of the Gulf South Conference All-Academic team, and Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Miss Burks is employed at Huntsville Hospital in the Neurologic Progressive Care Unit.

Mr. Jacobs is a 2011 graduate of Arab High School and a 2015 graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a degree in mechanical engineering. While at UAH, he was a member of the UAH Charger track and field team, received Gold and Silver student-athlete awards, a member of the Peach Belt Conference championship track team, and a software tester for Siemens PLM Software. Mr. Jacobs is presently employed as a Materials Test Engineer with Jacobs Technologies, ESSSA Group on Redstone Arsenal. 

The nuptial mass will be a 6 p.m. event on Friday, July 29, 2016, at Saint Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in downtown Huntsville.

After a wedding trip to New York City, the couple will reside in Huntsville.
