- Officer Warren Cotton of the Fultondale Police Department
Name: Warren Cotton
Department: Fultondale Police Department
On the Job: 21 years, six months with Fultondale
Officer Warren Cotton said he was originally inspired to become a police officer because of watching police shows and being intrigued by what the officers did. That fascination would come full circle when Cotton was working homicide at Birmingham Police Department and was tapped to be featured on the show “The First 48.”
But television wasn’t the only inspiration for Cotton.
“As I got older, I saw a lot of people being victimized,” Cotton explained. “I wanted to help people and give justice back to the victims.”
After retiring from Birmingham, Cotton is enjoying working in Fultondale as a patrol officer, answering calls, resolving problems and protecting people and businesses, as well as providing a presence around the city that he hopes comforts citizens.
