Funeral Services for Lydia Hyatt Guthrie, age 80 of Baileyton, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Baileyton United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Baileyton Cemetery, with the Rev. Deborah Moon officiating. There will be a viewing at the church from 1 p.m. until the service time.

Lydia was born on September 21, 1935, in Cullman County to the late Gaines W. Hyatt and Ora Emma Graham Hyatt of Arab. She passed away at Hanceville Nursing Home on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Lydia had several different careers over her lifetime, including reading teacher, County Extension Service employee and nurse. Lydia was a member of Baileyton United Methodist Church for all of her adult life and was a dedicated member who served as pianist, choir director and youth director at various times during her lifetime. Her life’s goal was to always try to make someone else happy or make their life a little better. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Douglas D. Guthrie.

She is survived by her sisters: Wynelle Segreti of Ohio, Willodean Weaver of Arab, Helen Chenault of Decatur and Bill Hyatte of Union Grove; daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Jeff Smith of Mansfield, Texas; Kay and Terry Carr of Holly Pond; Tammy and Jeff Silvey of Holly Pond; and son and daughter-in-law Tim and Suellen Guthrie of Arab; grandchildren and In law; Chris and Ashley Carr of Hanceville, Magan and Ryan Culler of Arab, Holly and Landon Van Horn El Reno, Oklahoma; Amanda and Jason Whitehead of Holly Pond, Laura and Jason Donnell, San Diego, CA; Jeremy and Savannah Silvey of Cullman, Tyler and Corbyn Silvey, Baltimore, MD; Katie Guthrie, Arab; Seth Guthrie of Arab; and 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the church on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
