Winfield ‘Bully’ Moon Sr.

Funeral services for Winfield “Bully” Moon Sr., 88, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Cullman First Baptist Church, Pastor Bob Kurtz officiating, with interment in Flint Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Vinemont. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Moon passed away Saturday, March 19, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Vinemont to Boyd and Tressie Moon.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnny and Iowa Drake; his parents; and a sister, Wilda Moon Corley.
Bully is survived by his wife of 68 years, Theolene Harbison Moon; along with four children, Debbie (Buddy) Shear, Kathy Davis, Winfield (Caryl) Moon Jr., and Amy (Randy) Braswell; and eight grandchildren, Josh, Jake and Joey Shear, Ben Kreps, Dr. Jennifer Cupp, Dr. Heather Small, Winfield Moon III (Trey) and Conner Moon; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Jackson Cupp, and Reef and Ramsey Shear. He is also survived by brothers, Alta Drake, Talmadge Drake; and sister, Imogene Lawrence; and a host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Mr. Moon was a U.S. Army veteran, longtime member of the Cullman Elks Lodge, a Mason and Shriner. He was also a member of St. John’s United Evangelical Protestant Church. Mr. Moon was a well-known colorful character around town, always having a story to tell. He was well traveled, and a very successful business man, having business interests from Las Vegas to West Virginia, but he always returned to Cullman which he loved so much. He had a big heart and was generous to all who came in contact with him, especially his family. He was fun to be around and loved to share his experiences with anyone who would listen. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh, Jake and Joey Shear, Ben Kreps, Trey and Conner Moon.
