George M. Wissinger

Memorial services for George M. Wissinger, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Sandlin’s Chapel Methodist Church. 

Mr. Wissinger passed away Monday, March 14, at Arlington Rehab & Healthcare in Birmingham. He was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Johnstown, Penn., to Dwight and Orpha Bauder Wissinger. He was retired from federal service, having worked at the Pentagon. He was also a member of the U.S. Air Force, during which time he met and married his beloved wife, Jesse Bee Stewart Wissinger. He went on to join the U.S. Navy Seabees.

Survivors include his children, Janice (Roger) Crook, Carol (Mike) Ricketts,  Deborah (Charles) Gillis and Gary Wissinger; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dwight Eugene Wissinger.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Sandlin Chapel Church.
