Virginia McDowell Tunstill went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the age of 84. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (William) Rouse; two grandchildren, Heather (Jamie) Mays and Ashley (Dale) Watkins; five great grandchildren, Kyndal, Kate, Shelby, Ava and Jevin; one brother, Roy (Doris) McDowell; one sister Ann Youngberg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Hollis Tunstill; one granddaughter, Holly Carlisle; her parents, Walter and Kate McDowell; four brothers and two sisters. 

Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m in the parlor of The New Gardendale Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
