Gardendale Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene of a fatal shooting on Newfound Road just past Wren Way at approximately 8 p.m. Friday, according to Police Chief Mike Walker.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was removed by the Jefferson County Coroner. The victim has been identified as Khiry Devante Hicks, 22, of Fultondale.

A wrecker removed a red SUV, but Walker declined to comment on its involvement.

Walker said the suspected shooters remain at large, but police are looking for two black males in a dark sedan. Walker said the description they received was “vague,” but he does not believe the public is in danger.

“At this time, we believe this individual was specifically targeted and the public is not in danger,” Walker said.
