More rolling roadblocks are coming this week, as workers continue work on Interstate 65’s interchange with the new Interstate 22.

The Alabama Department of Transportation said in a press statement that northbound lanes of I-65 will see intermittent delays each night from Monday through Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing through 5 a.m. each day. The roadblocks will start about a mile south of the U.S. 31 interchange in south Fultondale, and continue northward past the Walker Chapel Road exit.

The delays are needed so that crews can perform bridge work on I-65. In case of inclement weather, the roadblocks will be postponed.

Work on southbound I-65 through the construction zone passed a major milestone last week, as through traffic was moved over to their permanent lanes. For the most part, remaining work on southbound lanes will be confined to connections to I-22 and U.S. 31.
