- Flood damage left behind from rising waters at Clarkson Covered Bridge Park Friday, December 25, 2015.
The 100-year-old Clarkson Covered Bridge was spared flood damage, however the same can not be said for the wooden walkways around the park.
Cullman County Parks and Recreation have closed the park until further notice to allow crews to assess the damage and make repairs. Officials urged residents to not cross the rock wall to enter the park.
Cullman County was walloped with around 8 inches of rain in a 24-hour period Friday.
Gov. Robert Bentley declared a state of emergency for the Christmas Day floods, and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency has been with working with counties across the state as the assess damage. Bentley said 190 road closures have impacted every county in Alabama, with many areas still underwater.
