Updated: Threat at Bragg Middle School proves to be nothing

A bomb threat at Gardendale’s Bragg Middle School on Wednesday turned out to be nothing more than a threat.
“It was just a typical, run-of-the-mill threat,” Principal Brad Robertson said. “But we had to follow up on it out of caution.”
Robertson didn’t give specifics on the threat, but said that school resource officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were called in to investigate, and brought in dogs to sniff out any danger.
“They checked everything out and found nothing,” Robertson said.
Jefferson County Schools spokeswoman Nez Calhoun confirmed the incident, saying that the school was put into “soft lockdown” from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
“We had a soft lockdown because some kid wanted to show out,” Calhoun said.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said it’s their policy not to comment on bomb threats.
Parents were notified of an incident, without specific details, through automated phone alerts.
