Mortimer Jordan attempts to make school football history tonight, as the Blue Devils take on St. Paul’s Episcopal of Mobile in the AHSAA Super 7 Class 5A championship game at the University of Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium.

7:00 p.m.: Mortimer Jordan has won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half. St. Paul’s will receive the opening kickoff.

5:46, 1st qtr.: Saints draw first blood on 6-yard run by Ostin McPherson, capping a 15-play, 71-yard drive. Extra point is good. St. Paul’s 7, Mortimer Jordan 0.

0:47, 1st qtr.: Saints score again, as McPherson carries the load for most of a 54-yard drive, finished by a 6-yard run through a hole by quarterback Miller Mosley. St. Paul’s 14, Mortimer Jordan 0.

11:07, 2nd qtr.: Jordan can’t seem to get a drive going. One first down on a penalty, but has to punt. The return is mishandled, though, and the Devils recover the fumble at the Saints 4-yard line. JuJu Washington got the ball for the Devils.

6:58, 2nd qtr.: Saints keep it on the ground again and find holes in the Devils defense. B.J. Edmonds scores from the 1. Extra point clangs off the upright. St. Paul’s 20, Mortimer Jordan 6.

5:37, 2nd qtr.: After a three-and-out, Jordan punts away, but intercepts a Saints pass. Connor Bruce with the pick. Jordan takes over on their 30.

4:29, 2nd: B.J. Edmonds intercepts a Duncan Hodges pass and runs it back for a pick-six touchdown. Extra point is good. St. Paul’s 27, Mortimer Jordan 6.

Halftime: St. Paul’s Episcopal 27, Mortimer Jordan 6. Devils drive late in half, thanks to passes by Hodges; they drive down to the Saints’ 11, but half ends on an interception by Taumaurice Smith in end zone, with Hodges trying to find Jacob Dean in double coverage.

2:53, 3rd: Preston Wilson intercepts a Saints pass to stop a drive. Jordan takes over on their own 30.
