Jonis Woodrow “Woody” Brooks, 79, of Hanceville went to be with the Lord Monday, October 19, 2015. Woodrow was born July 16, 1936. He is the son of the late James Brooks and Stella McAnnally Brooks of Garden City. Mr. Brooks has shared 37 years of his life with his wife, Rhonda Martin Brooks. Also, he is the father of three beautiful daughters, Melissa Brooks Butts, Beth Brooks Shrebit, and Shaunna Brooks Aker. Finally, he leaves behind six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brooks was most recognizable in his community by many of his local business establishments, public services, and his generosity he has shown towards numerous individuals. Mr. Brooks served 12 years in the Alabama National Guard, was a volunteer firefighter, a member of Hanceville Masonic Lodge, and he attended Garden City First Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and throughout the community.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hanceville Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, with interment in Garden City Cemetery.
